About Carol

Carol Perkins is the author of A Girl Named Connie. Published in May of 2016, this is her first biography. "Connie and I have been friends since before we started to school. I knew she was adopted but never told her I knew until she confronted two of our other friends and me. She said, 'Tell me what you know!" I replied, 'I heard it.' "
Over the years, they planned to tell Connie's story, but it would have wait until after her parents were gone. "I don't want to hurt them," Connie said. For several years, the two collaborated, interviewed, recalled events, and gathered information. Carol finished writing the book this year- to rave reviews.
In addition to being an author, Carol is a weekly columnist for The Glasgow Daily Times in Glasgow, Kentucky; the Herald News in Edmonton, Kentucky; and Columbia Online Magazine from Columbia, Kentucky. She also hosts a weekly radio talk show host for WKNK, 99.1 the Hoss located in Cave City, Kentucky. The show, Susan and Carol-Unscripted, shares an hour each week of humor, nostalgia, and announcements from the area.
A retired English teacher and former business owner, Carol began her writing career after retirement. "I was so involved in teaching writing that I had no inspiration to write on my own at the end of the day." Immediately following retirement, she launched into her writing career.
"My first writing endeavor was publishing educational writing materials." She and two fellow teachers began Promptly Yours, Inc., a writing prompt book company that sold writing prompts and rubrics to school systems to help teachers teach how to write across the curriculum. "I wrote prompts for reluctant writing teachers." They sold their titles to Jamestown Publishers.
"I next contacted my local paper to see if the editor would be interested in a weekly feature story. That was over six years ago. That I was picked up by two other publications. My hope is syndication!"
